About Idukki Arch Dam: The Idukki hydroelectric project is the biggest of its kind in the State with an installed capacity of 780 MW. It is one of the highest ten arch dams in the world. Idukki Arch dam is managed by the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB), was commissioned by the then Prime minister of India, Indira Gandhi in 1976. It took 220 lakh man days to complete the project.

PROCEDURE FOR INDUSTRIAL VISIT PERMISSION TO IDUKKI ARCH DAM
- Original letter from the head of the institution along with Name and age of students who wish to visit the dam.
- Two teachers should accompany the students.
- Students, who wish to visit dam, shall contact the Chief Engineer (Dam Safety) for getting sanction (except Moolamattom Power Station), and then contact the Office of the Director (Generation & HRM) for getting sanction confirmed.
- No fee is required for one day industrial visit.
